The

FUENTES STORY

Paul Fuentes Design is owned by husband-and-wife duo Paul and Ilse Fuentes. Paul grew up in Mexico City where he worked as a graphic designer and started his fascination with manipulating images for fun. It’s 2015 when Paul opened his Instagram account @paulfuentes_design to share his minimal mashups in which he combines the best of two artistic movements and transform them into pastel-coloured compositions. French surrealism and the culture of Pop Art. That same year, Paul met the Dutch Ilse in London. They fell in love and travelled back and forth between 'his' Mexico and 'her' Netherlands for a long time. With her background in media, entertainment, and management, she made the perfect fit to the team and joined as a creative member. They now work and live in the city where it all started: London. They are photographers, directors and thinkers and create mash-ups of food, animals and everyday objects that they merge into a surrealistic, humorous whole without mercy. If it’s a Disco Snail or a Floral Pizza, it’s their goal to get a smile on your face!

They see the world through a colourful lens!

The couple loves to travel, and after a trip to Palm Springs, California, they came home full of new ideas. So in 2018 @paulfuentes_photo was created. Working with a similar style and without missing the pastels, Paul takes his travel photographs to surreal and iconic places. Inspired by the endless summer of mid-century America, Fuentes captures dreamy places oozing with mid-century nostalgia. You’ll find classic cars, mid-century architecture, and wild animals chilling by the pool. Big cats like tigers and cheetahs became the signature of his art prints. Each of Fuentes’ photographs is a multi-layer image, with elements separated and then brought together to create one cohesive work of art. This travel collection is just another call for people to live a colourful, adventurous and happy life.
